Works for Me Wednesday: Conserve Water

Gen X Moms has moved to Don’t forget to update your bookmark!

In honor of Earth Day, here is a tip for conserving water. Place a bucket under the faucet while you are waiting for the water to warm up before your shower. I use this water for mopping, watering plants or filling the toilet tank. Simple but effective.

  1. This is so simple and so obvious I’m actually embarrassed that I’ve been wasting all that water and never thought to do this.

  2. What a great idea! Super way to conserve!

  3. Hooray! I am so excited to win! Thank you for hosting the giveaway, and I will send you an email post-haste.

  4. Lovely way to save water. I just heard that you can unscrew the bottom of the sink and stick a bucket underneath there. You can then collect wash water to flush toilets or water plants, etc.

  5. What a simple yet effective way to conserve water. Here is another one. If you are using your washing machine, try not to use a lot of detergent. Opt for liquid detergents as well. Powder detergents are difficult to dissolve especially when they harden up. Your washer, when you are conserving energy and only using cold water temperature, might not dissolve the particles necessitating an extra rinse cycle.
